Define the content of test procedures for laboratory testing of new motor products using Rockwell Automation motion control systems, and insuring products are compliant with international standards. Develops and authors the documentation to support changes in requirements and related modules or subsystems. Understand and apply design practices that are consistent with agency certifications, including EMC, UL, NFPA 79, and environmental and safety requirements. Interprets and implements design practices that are consistent with agency certifications, including EMC, UL, and NFPA 79, and environmental and safety requirements authoring use case analysis and preparation in support of Functional Requirements documentation. Participate in periodic design reviews to help ensure meeting performance, reliability and quality objectives, including DFT (Design for Test) and DFM (Design for Manufacturability). Creates and implements unit testing of machine designs. Specifies test requirements, equipment and documentation as well as product documentation (user manuals, release notes, and other matters). Applies knowledge of motion control, power electronics and machine design. Applies knowledge of and experience in permanent magnet servo motor design, motor feedback devices, motion control products, power electronics and applications. Demonstrates proficiency to design, setup and commission complex servo motor prototypes using components developed for Rockwell Automation's Integrated Architecture. Responsible for electromagnetic machine design. Works with Pro-E, Maxwell, Matlab and Simulink. Demonstrates proficiency to model complex machines in Maxwell and use available design tools such as Matlab and Simulink to evaluate new and existing machine designs. May assume technical leadership of a small team or the mentoring of less-experienced engineers. Establish and maintain a detailed work breakdown and schedule for portions of development projects. Work with the managers and development team to determine the contents of milestones and incorporate this data into the schedule. Ensure development team participation in the review of requirements and design specifications that may impact the team's area of responsibility.
Required: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and one (1) year of experience as a Motor Hardware Development Engineer. As part of the experience being required, applicants must have had: experience in designing and optimizing permanent magnet AC motors, including both surface mounted and interior permanent magnet (SPM and IPM) motors by using 2D/3D Finite Element Analysis and modeling software (Ansys / Maxwell); experience in proposing and setting up test dyne bay for permanent magnet AC motors with variable-frequency drives (VFD), oscilloscope and power analyzer; and experience in modeling and analyzing different control algorithms of electric drives on the system level by Matlab/Simulink.
